Digital Finance and Fintech in Ukraine

Representatives of the Association “Ukrainian Union of Lessors” took part in the 4th International Conference “DIGITAL FINANCE & TECHNOLOGY”, which took place on July 18 in Kyiv at the American Chamber of Commerce. The conference was attended by representatives of the National Commission, which carries out state regulation in the field of financial services markets, the Independent Association of Ukrainian Banks, USAID, Huawei, Microsoft Ukraine and leading leasing companies.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss ways of digital transformation of the financial sector of Ukraine and the opportunities that market participants can gain in case of effective use of new approaches and technologies.

Oleksandr Zaletov, Member of the National Commission for State Regulation in the Financial Services Market, spoke about the state of the market for non-bank financial services and the prospects for its development, in particular in the context of digital transformation.

Elena Korobkova, Executive Director of the Independent Association of Ukrainian Banks, shared the latest trends and challenges of the Ukrainian banking sector.

Andriy Biryukov, Advisor to the First Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, spoke about the “Concept of the Development of the Digital Economy and Society of Ukraine for 2018-2020” and called on market participants to actively participate in shaping policies and tools that will help the concept to take concrete steps. Particular attention from representatives of the Association “Ukrainian Union of Lessors” draw the information that the above mentioned concept defines the liberalization of non-bank financial services as part of promoting the development of modern digital services in the market with simultaneous protection of consumers and effective counteraction to fraud.

Huawei’s representatives shared their experience in implementing digital solutions for financial institutions and outlined the benefits that individual companies and industry can gain as a whole in the event of cooperation in order to create universal digital solutions and up-to-date services for their clients.

The leitmotif of all the performances was that companies should change, responding to the challenges of time, or cease to exist. And Ukraine has a lot of its own decisions as it can be done effectively, as learned by the forum participants, including leasing, insurance, financial companies, industry associations, as well as representatives of USAID.
