In 2020, Ukrzaliznytsia plans to purchase 28 passenger cars for UAH 653.6 million and three diesel trains for UAH 442.4 million manufactured by the Kryukivka Carriage Plant (KVBZ), which envisages a financial plan approved by the government and published on the company’s website.
In general, the financial plan provides for the purchase and production of rolling stock for a total of 1 billion 474 million UAH, in particular, in addition to the purchase in KVBZ, provides for the purchase of 12 units. rail welding machines for UAH 378 million, including 8 units. – through the mechanism of financial leasing for UAH 248 million.
In addition, this year provides for tenders and contracts at the expense of borrowed funds (credit or leasing) for the purchase of four railcars with delivery in 2021, electric locomotives and diesel locomotives with delivery in 2021 and subsequent years.
Ukrzaliznytsia plans to modernize fixed assets by UAH 2 billion 747.2 million, including rolling stock by UAH 1 billion 798.4 million (freight cars – by UAH 265.7 million, traction units – UAH 876.2 million) , railcar rolling stock – UAH 266.4 million, passenger cars – UAH 330 million, track and other rolling stock – UAH 60.1 million).
According to the financial plan, the renewal of railway rolling stock (purchase of new, modernization and overhaul of the existing fleet), as well as reconstruction and overhaul of tracks are priority areas of investment activity of Ukrzaliznytsia.
UAH 8 billion 121.3 million or 64.3% of total investments are planned for these purposes (including UAH 4 billion 595.4 million for rolling stock renewal, UAH 3 billion 528.9 million for road reconstruction and overhaul).
The company’s Supervisory Board made reservations about the financial plan for 2020 and the investment plan for 2020-2022, stating that the condition for reflection in the financial plan of investment in passenger rolling stock is full funding of such investments from the state budget.
As reported, the Minister of Infrastructure Vladislav Krykliy in March 2020 agreed with the proposal of President Volodymyr Zelensky to purchase three diesel trains and 90 passenger cars from KVBZ.
At the end of July this year, during a visit to KVBZ, Prime Minister Denis Shmorgae said that the first 20 cars have already been made (these cars were produced by the plant under a contract in 2018 – IF ) and 18 plants received payment, and 70 will be purchased additionally .
