FOR THE FIRST SIX MONTHS OF 2017, LEASING COMPANIES – ASSOCIATION MEMBERS FINANCED LEASES FOR UAH 4.4 BILLION.
A certain degree of economic recovery has created pre-conditions for more active financing of leasing company customers, representatives of the real sector, legal entities and individuals.
Thus, for 6 months of 2017, the volume of new business totaled UAH 4.354 billion (without fees for the use of leased assets). This is up 71% compared to the first six months of the last year. This high growth rate indicates the end to the stagnation, improved expectations and better awareness of possibilities and benefits of finance leases.
Leaders by the volume of new business in the reporting period are the following companies:
- OTP-Leasing (UAH1.958 billion);
- ULF-Finance (UAH 588 million);
- Tecom-Leasing (UAH 510 million).
In terms of growth rates of financing in the first six months of 2017, as compared to the same period last year, they are:
- Tecom-Leasing (+448% );
- Land-Lease (Alfa Leasing trademark) (+229%)
- OTP-Leasing (+49%).
The total portfolio of leasing companies – members of the Ukrainian Union of Lessors amounts to UAH 10.225 billion (without fees for the use of leased assets), which suggests an insignificant growth but still growth by 1% (UAH 86 million) since the beginning of 2017.
Leaders by lease portfolio growth are:
- Land-Lease (Alfa Leasing trademark) (+49% compared to the total lease portfolio as of the end of 2016)
- Tecom-Leasing (+36%);

Whereas leasing companies increase the volume of financing of small and medium-sized businesses, bank lending demonstrates a downward trend. For the first six months, the volume of bank loans made to business entities declined by UAH 29.253 billion (-3.5%) to UAH 817.839 billion; and the volume of loans made to individuals fell by UAH3.794 billion (-2.4%) to UAH153.591 billion. The similar pattern is observed in the banking sector in the first six months of 2016 as well; thus, for 6 months of 2016, the volume of loans made to business entities dropped by UAH 32.302 billion (-3.9%) to UAH 798.330 billion; and the volume of loans made to individuals fell by UAH15.830 billion (-9.0%) to UAH 159.882 billion.
