Second project on renewing public transport into public transport launched together with the EIB



 The Ministry of Infrastructure has asked the European Investment Bank to initiate a new Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II project in 2020. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Infrastructure for European Integration Natalia Forsyuk.

“Within the framework of this project it is planned to give the cities modern ecological transport – to upgrade the parks of trams, trolleybuses, electric buses, as well as subway cars of municipal utilities”, – said Natalia Forsyuk.

The proposals of local governments from 23 regional centers of Ukraine have already been elaborated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and sent to the EIB for consideration.

The cities of the Southeastern region with a population of more than 100,000 applications have been extended. Which Ukrainian cities will receive financing for the reconstruction of the infrastructure will be known in a few months, while the financing agreement between Ukraine and the EIB (Project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine II”) is planned to be signed and ratified by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine before the end of 2020.

Now in Ukraine, in the active stage of implementation, the first Project “Urban Public Transport of Ukraine” is a financing agreement between Ukraine and the EIB, ratified by the Law of Ukraine dated April 12, 2017 No. 2009 VIII.

It envisages the implementation of 21 sub-projects for the development of urban passenger transport in 11 cities of Ukraine. To date, the EIB has agreed to allocate 13 of these subprojects for a total amount of EUR 176.2 million, which after the tendering procedures – by the end of this year and at the beginning of the next, will be directed to the purchase of more than fifty urban transport units for Zaporizhia utility companies. , Kyiv, Lutsk, Lviv, Odessa, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv and Chernihiv.

Zaporozhye: 26 electric buses and 20 buses for the Zaporizhelectrotrans utility company;

Kyiv: 112 buses for Kyivpastrans utility company, 17 trams for Kyivpastrans utility company, cable car cabs and equipment for Kyivpastrans utility;

Lutsk: 29 trolleybuses for city utility companies; Lviv: 100 buses for the utility company “Motor Transport Company # 1”; 10 trams for Lvivelectrotrans utility company; Odessa: 30 trams to support the operation of the North-South Direct Trunk Route;

Amounts: 22 trolleybuses for the utility Elektroavtotrans;

Ternopil: 15 buses for the municipal enterprise “Miskavtotrans”;

Kharkiv: 35 subway cars for the Kharkiv subway; 61 trolleybus for the utility company “Trolleybus depot № 3”;

Chernihiv: 40 trolleybuses for utility companies of the city;

The total cost of the Project will be approximately EUR 400 million, of which EUR 200 million is European Investment Bank credit.
